Bianca - OK but stings my eyes
It's a good moisturiser and it is matte. It dries up on your face quite quickly after application. The only issues I have with it is that it stings my eyes and I have to be very careful when applying it.
    Emily - Good SPF
I have very acne prone skin and this doesn't break me out, it's a good SPF and it lasts a long time. It also is non greasy which is perfect. So all in all a good product. However, it is quite pricey and can sometimes be a bit too drying on my skin. Regardless, I will definitely be purchasing again.
    Joanna - Perfect!
This is my holy grail SPF for face! Not shiny and not too matte. With every other sunscreen I've tried I end up looking like an oil slick or so matte that fine lines are exaggerated. This one is the perfect inbetween finish and actually has a perfecting effect on my skin as though I'm using a BB Cream. It just looks like my skin but better with pores and lines diminished. And my skin feels beautifully soft to the touch as soon as I put it on and throughout the day. I can't say enough good things about this product! My only word of caution is that I don't apply it to my eye area as it does sting my eyes, so for that I use a mineral sunblock. But still, don't change this formula! It's perfect as it is!
Bradley - Finally found my perfect SPF Moisturizer!!!
I tried the Resist Ultra Light and it was not good for my skin. Tried a sample size of this however and I love it. Since its a chemical sunscreen it has absolutely no white cast and it's great to find a chemical sunscreen which works with oily skin. Doesn't break me out and leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth and absorbs perfectly into the skin and easily gives full coverage. It is so much better! SPF's usually either break me out, are too thick, or have a strong smell, this doesn't have any of these. I hope they never stop making this and along with the BHA 2% liquid, its one of their best products.
    Patrick - Disappointment
After reading the philosophy of Paula's Choice and the unbiased reviews I hoped this product would be the moisturiser that would finally be right for me.

I have sensitive skin and so thought that this product would be worth the extra expense compared to other brands which make me break out.

The product is surprisingly runny, and gave me lots of whiteheads initially. I tried to have faith after paying this premium price and persisted for a week but the spots kept coming and only cleared up once I stopped using the product.

I know that one of the functions of this moisturiser is as a sunscreen, but it is not even particularly nourishing. Daily use left my skin feeling dry and fragile by the end of the day, but I feared extra use would just make me break out more.

    Really disappointed, my search continues!

GeeMac - Caused spots like never before!
I loved this upon application, it's a thin, lotion-like product, great for oily skin. After years of experimenting, thought I had finally found the perfect sunscreen! Unfortunately, I soon discovered that it gives me little white spots. I have never experienced this before. I have given it a fair trial and this product is definitely the culprit. I am very disappointed. I am surprised that a Paula's Choice product has has this effect, I love the philosophy and expertise behind the brand! It is not the cheapest product and have now wasted £25. Such a shame! Back to the drawing board!

Ebba - Great - but stings
Great SPF - does everything it promises! Keeps the skin mat whilst providing great SPF coverage. The only downside is that it stings my face, I have switched to the Hydralight SPF. Not the same matte feel, but at least it does not sting.

Customer Care: Thank you for your review. Although this is not a common response, we do understand that each customer is uniquely different in how they will respond to products or ingredients. The Hydralight SPF contains a mineral filter that is more suitable for sensitive skin indeed.
Jonathan - The Best I have tried
I have experimented with a lot of sunscreens and this is the best I have found for daily wear on neck and arms.
I am male, and prefer something totally matte. This doesn't leave a greasy feel, nor does it seem to smell like most sunscreens.

So far, this is my number one choice.
    Lucy - Pros and Cons
Pros: very light lotion. Not quite as watery light as the Clear one or the Resist 50 SPF, but still very very light for an SPF. Didn't break me out and have a good texture, felt comfortable on my skin, spread easily, mixed well with other products and didn't leave a white cast
Cons: left me a little bit shiny.

All in all I would use this if I felt I needed more moisture in the drier areas of my face than the Clear or Resist moisturisers provide, but for everyday use (i generally don't wear foundation) I prefer a mattifying finish.
    Lara - Stings and burns
I use the entire Skin Balancing range, as I have combination skin. I haven't had any issues with the rest of the range, but when I apply the moisturiser (last), my skin starts burning, and continues to do so for about 20 minutes since application. I have got sensitive skin, but I have never had burning and stinging quite this bad with other moisturisers. I will continue to use the other products from this range, but I will look to change moisturisers to something more gentle. Customer Care: Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear of your experience. For sensitive combination skin we recommend to use products with mineral sunscreen, for example Hydralight Shine Free Daily Mineral Complex SPF 30. We will contact you by email to discuss other options.
    Jerry - Stings....
I really wanted this product to work especially since I just finished reading Paula's books and I found other products truly amazing. However when I applied this product to my face it stings at first and about 20 minutes after application there were some peeling and redness. After a full week of dry and irritated skin I decided to use a BB cream instead and all the redness and flaking were gone so it must've been this product. I tried applying it on my arms and it did sting slightly as well but there were no peeling afterwards. Maybe it works wonders on other people however this product really just made my skin dry and irritated and now I will use it as a body sunscreen.
    Andrew - Great product
Great sunscreen for men. No white cast or tint, no shine, although it may sting slightly on application it does not irritate the skin or promote redness. So hard to find a sunscreen that ticks all the boxes for having no shine but not drying either, no white cast or tint and does not break you out. Highly recommend!
Megan - not good for sensitive skin
I used to use this product before they changed the formula and I was advised by PC that this would be a good replacement. I find this product far too runny. Also my skin burned/stung and turned red when I applied it on the eye area. I have very sensitive skin so I'm used to my skin reacting to products. I now use a different moisturizer on my eye area and continue to use this on the rest of my face and neck. I'm not saying this is a bad product, but if you have sensitive skin you should order a sample first to be sure.
    Debbie - Very very good
I just repurchased this moisturiser after a break to try products by other brands and I won't be straying again! I know many people prefer the old SPF15 version but I think this is better. So thankful to have good protection with no breakouts, plus all the antioxidants etc. This the perfect product for me and I hope PC keeps making it for a long time to come. Also, thanks to PC Customer Services for sorting out a delivery problem with great efficiency and helpfulness. All round excellence!
Alexandra - Bring back the old formula!
I have used this product for years and always found it perfect as my daytime moisturiser. I recently ordered more, not noticing the new formula (probably would have got it anyway) and find the new formula to be very runny. It also burns and stings my skin when applied anywhere near my eyes. Never thought a PC product would do that. Very disappointed and will use carefully whilst sourcing a new daytime moisturiser.

Nicola - Needs adjusting to be on par with Paula's other products
My skin is sensitive, blemish prone, has rosacea, is very fair and prone to burning, with an oily/dry combination skin.

    -The texture is matte.
-Just enough moisture for an oily, oily/dry combo skin (with moisture adding toner to help dry areas).
-Makeup works well over the top with no balling up or anything.
-The spf 30 is a big plus as most moisturizers are only spf 15.
-Fragrance/ colour/ irritant free, which is rare to find.
    -Contains antioxidants.
    -White cast disappears quickly.
    -Chemical sunscreen, which I prefer.
    -Did not cause blemishes.

-I have a sheeny face when I use the skin balancing spf 30 (I wish I could have the Hydralight matte formula but with chemical sunscreen).
-The silica only dissipates sometimes, and rubbing the product between your hands to break the silica won't work as you will just absorb the product into your hands before it reaches your face. In comparison, the Hydralight formula is powdery feeling, but the silica in this is actually hard feeling. If you don't wear makeup, or wish to use this spf on your body and hands too, it will feel unpleasant to the touch.
-This line is marketed to combination skin but I find it is not really moisturising, so those who don't have oily skin or don't want additional toner could be disappointed.
Micki - good, but gritty when applying, stings slightly
I was using the Skin balancing gel + PC oil free sun screen, but saw this moisturiser w/ SPF therefore gave it a try, saves me another step of sunscreen. It's a good overall moisturiser, however once I applied onto my face it feels very gritty. After a few seconds tingling sensation around eyes / cheek areas, but bearable, no redness though. Not sure whether this is bad reaction and should stop using this and to convert back to gel without SPF then apply sunscreen. Having said that, after a few minutes the tingling sensation subsides.
Not quite sure what to do!
    Linda - Disappointed
This is awful under make up....as soon as it is applied it rolls up like little pieces of rubber and prevents foundation from going on smoothly....this under Paula's Choice foundations and Bobbie Brown's and others.....
I was looking forward to this being the answer to finding an SPF Moisturiser that did not shine after half an hour and providing an excellent base....it ISN'T this....
Mari - Good light mosturiser, but can feel gritty
I use if with a serum below, and I have noticed that using it alone I need a lot more, so it means it hydrates less. Used with a serum, it is a good mosturiser for my skin and I think it would be good even without a serum when it gets very hot - unfortunately does not happen in the UK. I personally do not mind the fluid texture but I am giving only three stars as it can be gritty. It is an odd feeling that I do not have always, it probably happens when I shake it but I am not sure. When it happens, it really feels uncomfortable. I am not sure I would buy it again for this reason. I too preferred the 15 SPF version. Customer Care: Thank you for your feedback. The “gritty” texture you noted is due to the mattifying agents in this formula, specifically, silica. We recommend rubbing your hands together before application as the silica, which is spherical, will burst upon friction resulting in a smoother application. Nevertheless in the next batch the texture will be adjusted.
Jirapa - Good product in a bad container
The product is good and easy to apply on your face. As it is more a liquid than the cream so the liquid come out without pressing the container. It should be contained in a bottle style.
Jessica - Bring back the old formula
I agree with Matt - I relied on the SPF15 version, its formula was better and I wish they hadn't discontinued it. I'm afraid I'll have to restart the hunt for a non-shiny SPF moisturiser - what a shame! Customer Care : We thank you for your feedback. Thank you for your review, we are sorry to hear this product wasn't the best match for you. The texture of the Skin Balancing SPF 30 is a formula that was developed specifically for oily skin types. Those who are dealing with an oily complexion tend to prefer a fluid or gel texture in their skin care products. If you are seeking a thicker lotion that is still appropriate for oily skin consider our Hydralight SPF 30. Please contact our Customer Care team at your convenience and they would be happy to assist you.
DuffrynGirl - Beautiful product - thank you!
I've tried many, many moisturisers and sunscreens and this is by far the best product I have ever used. It is incredibly lightweight, my skin stays comfortably matte without feeling dry or tight, and all with top notch SPF30 protection. No more oil-slick skin if I want high protection, or sacrificing protection for comfortable skin. There are negative comments on the US site, about grittiness and watery texture. For me, the grittiness is minimal and disappears in seconds. Yes, it is very fluid but I'm just careful about how I squeeze the tube. I say well done and thank you, Paula's Choice. Whoever developed this is a genius.
Matt - Previous formula was better
Don't get me wrong, this is a great product: it protects well, and contains all the anti-ageing ingredients we have come to expect from a PC product. It also applies well - very smoothly. But I wish they didn't have to discontinue the SPF 15 version.
This product obviously offers better sun protection, but it that comes at the cost of being far less mattifying when compared to the SPF 15 version.
Living in the UK, I actually wonder if there are many days when this higher protection is necessary, especially in the winter months. Unless I was spending a full day in the sun (in which case I'd use an actual PC sunscreen), I felt the SPF 15 version did the job pretty well.
I've noticed similar concerns mentioned in the reviews on the US website, so I hope Customer Service takes note and reintroduces the SPF 15 as another option for those who are willing to forgo the added protection for a little less shine. Customer Care: Thank you for your review. We will forward your feedback to Paula and her team.
    Alina - Perfection!
First SPF product that leaves my oily skin feel so soft and matte, just like I have nothing on. You also treat your skin with plenty benefical ingredients. I'm definitely an extremely satisfied customer!
