How to use
Apply a small amount in the evening over the face and neck to cleansed skin. Avoid the delicate skin around the eyes. Limit initial use to three evenings per week, then gradually increase frequency to every other evening and finally every evening as tolerated by your skin. When first using this product we suggest that you do not use it at the same time as your AHA or BHA exfoliant. If you would like to use both, apply one in the morning and the other in the evening. Monitor your skin’s response and if no sensitivity occurs this product can be applied at the same time as your exfoliant.
Thank you for submitting your review! It will be reviewed by our staff before it is posted.I don't know what other ingredients has this product but its very irritating my skin and my neck has 2 red circles that i never had before. I don't think I am buying this again. Its not for me.
Customer Care: Hello Prodromos, and thank you for sharing your experience with us - we're sorry to hear this didn't work as expected for you! This is considered a potent retinol treatment, which can cause irritation for some people. Please contact a member of our Customer Care team, who can assist you with a possible alternative. Kind regards, Marissa - Paula's Choice Customer Care TeamThere was definitely some dryness and peeling at the beginning when using this product, However, after persevering with it, my skin is looking a lot brighter and clearer.
Customer care: Hi Ash! Although dryness and peeling are not a common response to using this product, we are glad to hear this helped you achieve clearer and brighter skin. To reduce dryness when using a retinol product we recommend using a serum such as a Omega+ Complex Serum before application. Please contact us if you have any questions, we are happy to help! Kind regards, AdeleI have been using this product for over a month now, not overusing it but it gave my skin so many breakouts its never been like that bad before. I use so many paulas choice products that I love but I have to say that this one is so far the worst one for my skin. It didnt give me any irritation as most retinol products do but a lot of acne that would appear immediately next day or the same day
Customer care: Hello, and thank you for sharing your experience with us - we're sorry to hear this didn't work as expected for you, but we are glad that you used our return policy.I had a bit of peeling in the beginning but no irritation and my skin is sensitive (I put on top of the moisturiser though). I definitely see a big improvement of my fine lines including my frown lines I've used almost one bottle so far). Its one of my PC favourite products and will repurchase for sure.I'm very happy with this serum. I have a redness prone skin that gets irritated daily by weather, stress, red wine, spicy food, hot showers, I work as a personal trainer so there's always something that could potentially irritate my skin. This is serum brilliant. I started off using it 3 x week and built up to every night or every other night. One pump is enough. I applied 2 pumps in the beginning and my skin got irritated. Overall my skin is more even, redness goes away quicker, less blackheads, and very smooth. I don't wear foundation. Only concealer for dark circles, and a contour product. It all works really well and skin looks healthy and glowing. My skin is highly sensitive and with age fewer retinol products seem to work for me. The irritation is often greater than any benefit and that's unfortunate because I've had success with the ingredient in the past. I've carefully introduced the Retinol Bakuchiol and it's a winner. One pump no more than three nights out of the week was an effective start for me. I went without my BHA exfoliant the first couple weeks using this at night. I'm using no more than one pump of the Retinol Bakuchiol One pump every other night with one pump Calm or Omega serum or a small amount of the Defence Algae treatment followed by one pump Omega moisturiser following cleansing, toner and my BHA exfoliant without irritation. My skin is soft, smooth and looks remarkable better. Please start out cautiously. A little is all that's needed for great results.

What is Bakuchiol?
Bakuchiol is a vegan ingredient found in the leaves and seeds of the Psoralea corylifolia plant. It’s said to be a natural alternative to retinol, but it’s important to keep in mind that “alternative” does not mean “equivalent”. Scientific research has shown that bakuchiol delivers some of the same benefits as retinol, but both retinol and bakuchiol also have unique benefits. When looking for bakuchiol skincare products such as a bakuchiol serum or cream you may want to choose formulas that also contain retinol so you can benefit from both of these ingredients instead of choosing between them.
How does bakuchiol work?
Research shows that the natural anti-inflammatory properties of bakuchiol makes it easier for the skin to tolerate retinol. It is one of the rare ingredients that makes retinol more effective by stabilising its action. Bakuchiol cosmetics can even work better than products which contain ingredients that are usually used for this, such as vitamin E.
