Castanea Sativa (Chestnut) Leaf Extract description

Castanea sativa (chestnut) leaf extract comes from a tree native to countries throughout the northern hemisphere. The leaves contain antioxidant compounds astragalin and miquelianin, both having documented soothing abilities which help support a healthy skin barrier and calm signs and sensations of sensitivity. Other noted antioxidant compounds contributing to this plant’s benefits are ellagic acid, rutin, and isoquercetin. This plant extract can also help support a healthy microbiome and enhance skin’s surface defenses against environmental irritants that would otherwise trigger discomfort and redness. It is considered non-irritating and suitable for sensitive skin. The recommended usage level of chestnut leaf extract is 2%, of which 0.01–0.03% is the plant extract itself, the remainder being water and glycerin. That should give you an idea of the potency of this soothing plant!
