Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Seed Oil description

_Brassica campestris_ (rapeseed) oil is the non-fragrant oil extracted from the seeds of a plant that is a member of the cabbage family. In cosmetics, rapeseed oil is used both as an emollient and anti-aging ingredient. It’s a good source of replenishing vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants and is rich in fatty acids, including omega-3 and omega-6. The independent Cosmetic Ingredient Review has determined that _Brassica campestris_ seed oil is safe as used in cosmetics, even in amounts as high as 5%. A bit of trivia: the oil from cultivars of _Brassica campestris_ that are bred to have lower levels of erucic acid (which is mildly toxic) is known as canola oil and is used as a “neutral” (flavorless) vegetable oil for human and animal foods.
