Frequently asked questions

Good to know before you start:

This product is an exfoliant and your skin has to get used to it. Build up use from once a fortnight to 1 to 2 times per day. It may take some trial and error to see what is the best frequency for your skin.
During the day, always use a moisturiser with a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater. Your skin will in fact be slightly more sensitive to sunlight when using an exfoliant, so the chance of sunburn and sun damage is slightly higher.
Allergic to aspirin (acetylsalicylate)? Do not use this product as it contains salicylic acid (BHA).

What is the difference between Calm Redness Relief 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant and Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Lotion?

The Calm formula has a broader mix of ingredients chosen for their anti-inflammatory effect, so is ideal if you struggle with redness and extra-sensitive skin. Both have lightweight, silky lotion textures and can be used by all skin types.

What strength of BHA should I use? Will a higher concentration provide better and faster results?

Which BHA strength you opt to use should be based on your skin type and the stubbornness (or severity) of your pimples or blackheads. For reddened, extra-sensitive skin, the 1% BHA strength is a great starting point to see how using a pH-correct BHA can improve the skin’s condition. This strength may be all you need, or, in the future, if your skin responds favourably to a BHA exfoliant you can consider stronger options. These may be necessary if you’re also struggling with stubborn breakouts.

A light-weight exfoliating lotion for blemishes

This gentle exfoliating lotion with 1% BHA (salicylic acid) removes built-up dead skin cells to reveal radiant, silky-soft skin. Formulated with potent antioxidants and skin-soothing ingredients, it softens and hydrates skin while diminishing blackheads and blemishes.

The Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Lotion has been discontinued. If this product was one of your favourites, try the Calm 1% BHA Lotion as an alternative. This product has the same texture and if you have sensitive skin, we recommend using the Calm 1% BHA Lotion.
