Thank you for submitting your review! It will be reviewed by our staff before it is posted.LOVE the cleanser! Real feel like it makes a difference to the clarity of my skin. Definitely had fewer spots. The exfoliator too was very nice, although I had already been using Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid so not sure I could tell a difference. I found the moisturiser too light for my dehydrated skin.I have blemish prone/oily skin. Have tried lots of brands with frustration as nothing seemed to work. My friend recommended I try this line, I didn't want to buy the full sizes as I was a but sceptic. I ordered tis trial kit and I can honestly say it's the best thing I ever did for my skin. The blemishes are reducing, and my face isn't as oily as before. My make up stays put longer than it did while using other products. Will definitely be ordering the full sizes soon.I've been using this kit for over 3 weeks, and my skin (combination/oily) has responded pretty well to it. My comments on the individual items:
Cleanser - my favourite in the kit. It's low pH (particularly important for acne-prone skin) and incredibly gentle. My skin feels clean but not stripped or irritated after washing my face with this. I personally use it as a second cleanser after using an emulsifying oil cleanser first, so I'm not sure how good it is at removing makeup on its own.
Exfoliant (2% Salicylic acid)- also a great product, especially for unclogging pores and helping with breakouts. I've been using the Extra Strength version of this for over 2 years and love it, but if you're new to chemical exfoliants this is a great start. I personally don't find it irritating at all (in fact it has a lot of soothing ingredients included), and I like using it before a clay mask to really clear out my pores.
Moisturiser + SPF - the only product I didn't really warm to. I like using a separate moisturiser and spf to ensure complete protection and moisture, and on its own this didn't feel adequate. This also didn't play well with my moisturiser or sunscreen and pilled up. In the summer this would be a better option for my combination skin type but in freezing temperatures I definitely need more! I also wasn't a fan of the (typical sunscreen) scent. On the plus side it doesn't leave a shiny greasy finish, which I definitely appreciate!
Although my skin is acne-prone and can be sensitive to new products (especially when introducing more than one at the same time), I didn't have any breakouts while using these which really speaks to their careful formulation. I also love that Paula's Choice offers trial sizes, it really sets them apart.
I received this set for free in return for my honest review.I’ve been using a few of Paula’s products for a while now and I’m always willing to try new ones, especially when it comes to problamatic skin.
My skin is combination/oily - dehydrated, not a great combination.
I really enjoyed the cleanser, it was definitely one of my favourites. I didn’t feel my skin was stripped of all it’s oil and left feeling tight and horrible. I always take my makeup off with an oil cleanser so I didn’t use it to take makeup off butI’m sure it would if you double cleanse with it.
I have used the 2% BHA Liquid for some time now so I used the 2% in this kit and I definitely noticed a difference in the redness of my skin, I have very yellow undertones but because I have a few red marks (PIH) from past blemishes I can look quite red and it helped with that. I saw a difference in the appearance of the marks and how visible they were.
The moisturiser was my least favourite product but I did like it. I won’t repurchase it again because I prefer the Daily Defence Ultra Sheer Moisturiser with SPF30. It gave my skin a nice healthy glow without looking too greasy like many other sunscreens do, it also didn’t leave that horrible white cast either, which is very welcoming.
All in all I will be repurchasing the cleanser and liquid exfoliant in the larger sizes when my current Resist cleanser and 2% BHA Exfoliant run out.I received these as part of a promotion PC was doing on instagram. I've been using the BHA for years now and absolutely love it. However, just recently I came off medication that I've been on for 4 years and it wreaked havoc on my skin, I had multiple breakouts and redness in the typical hormonal areas. Considering I thought my skin was already bad, I eagerly took the opportunity to try the set from PC. I mean, it can only get worse right? Well, I was pleasantly surprised. The combination of these three products, along with a few other products from PC cleared up my skin! I'm beyond pleased and will definitely repurchase in the future. If you're at your wits end, I would recommend a nice simple routine like this to begin with (I also added vitamin C, HA and retinol after a little while).
Thank you so much to the team at PC for the opportunity. This trial kit is perfect for those wanting to try sampled-sized products before completely committing to full size. I was provided this free of charge in exchange for an honest review. I have been using this kit for 2 weeks and my skin type is acne-prone/dry
Cleanser: I'm very particular about cleansers and pH. A low pH is essential in order to not disrupt skin's acid mantle. I tested this one with my pH strips and it clocked at pH 6, which I am happy to use. This is an incredibly gentle cleanser, which does not leave my skin feeling stripped or tight at all and provides moderate foaming The addition of glycerin and panthenol make it very soothing, yet provide a through second cleanse.
Exfoliant- 2% BHA with the addition of glycerin, allantoin and panthenol. BHA's work fantastically to clean out pores. This is a clear liquid that should be applied with a cotton pad. However, I find that it works absolutely fine by simply applying on my skin. I was amazed to see an almost immediate decrease in redness. I always wake up to less congested skin and over the past 2 weeks, I have noted an improvement in skin texture. I'm very impressed with this product and this is the true gem in this kit!
Sunscreen- As a lover of Korean and Japanese sunscreens, I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. This is a cosmetically elegant sunscreen, which absorbs really quite well and with no white cast. It plays very well under sunscreen and frequent reapplications are really easy. If your skin is oily, this works fine without a moisturiser underneath but for my dry skin , I do require a layer underneath. I wish it had a higher spf. Despite living in the UK, I like a higher SPF, usually 50.
In the 2 weeks of using this kit, I haven't had any breakouts, which is incredibly promising. My redness is greatly diminished and I'm ever so pleased to see textural improvement. The liquid is great for really big spots, if I use it all over together with prescription benzoyl peroxide it can leave me pretty dry. So I use this a few time a week. I had the BHA liquid and decanted it into a spray after my clear BHA spray ran out and used that on my back. It really helped calm everything down and soothe the skin. Only downside is it's very strong for my sensitive redness acne prone skin, however it's great for spots just use sparingly. Well done Paula's Choice. The cleanser is really amazing for a acne cleanser, this really doesn't make you feel tight or sore afterwards and feels very nice. It lathers very minimally not loads of bubbles - a good sign. After years of using harsh cleansers using this was very nice. The SPF leaves more to be desired I think, it might be slightly shiny on my already shiny skin. I would have preferred a mineral based sunscreen. However it is all fragrance free and alcohol free which is a big plus for me. Use it together with benzoyl peroxide for better results I think. This set definitely helps!!This is a great travel kit. The cleanser is good in the morning and as a second cleanse in the evening, it doesn't dry the skin, nor leaves it tight.
The solution is my favourite from the trio. Keeps my skin smooth and I don't feel any stinging or redness, even if I use it morning and evening.
I love how light the fluid is and high SPF it provides. It sinks in quickly without any greasiness. The only problem I had with it is that if I want to apply my foundation with fingers, it pills.
Overall it is a great set that reduced my breakouts and if I get some anyway, it helps to heal them quicker without dark marks.
Also this set last well over two weeks so it gives good value.I bought this trial kit to try before I committed as I'm sure like many other women we've all spent lots of money trying to find the perfect fit for our skin. I felt this was good value for money and liked the idea of trying the whole regime together in one go for the full effect. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now and feel my skin has vastly improved in texture and appearance. It does not feel dry or flakey anymore and I hope this will keep improving overall. I will definitely be looking to purchase the full sized bottles but for now still have plenty left in the mini bottles!!!I really like that you can buy this kit in trial size to test out before buying the full size. This worked really well for my oily breakout prone skin. I had a few breakouts to begin with on my chin but persevered with the kit and now my skin is clear. I then purchased the full size kit.
I wish the instructions were universal for amounts to use; I have absolutely no idea how much a quarter to nickel size amount is or what dime size is either. Universal sizing would help e.g. Toothpaste - pea sized amount.
What are the key ingredients?
Synthetic sunscreen ingredient, provides broad-spectrum sun protection and is one of the most widely used UVA filters in the world.
Panthenol (Vitamin B5)
Panthenol is a humectant because of its ability to attract and hold moisture. It improves the look and feel of skin.
Primarily an exfoliant, helping shed dead skin on the surface and inside the pore, therefore effective for reducing breakouts and blackheads. It also has soothing properties.
