i have had this cleanser for 2 weeks. Using toner and a cotton ball after i have cleansed, there is virtually no trace of make up left on my face. I have sensitive, dry skin and am prone to mild bouts of eczema, so i have tried many (sometimes expensive) products which have either dried my face and caused problems or left make up behind. This product leaves my skin feeling absolutely clean but not at all dry. It is a reasonable price for the size of the bottle and you do not need much to properly cleanse. Hi! I have combination skin, and all other cleansers used to leave my skin dry and dull, like old leather (specially cleansers aimed at improving blackheads: blackhead would stay there and my skin was just dry!). when I started using this cleanser (following the "as gentle as possible" paula's principle) I never had dry skin anymore! It's so gentle that I can use it also around the eyes (for stubborn mascara). and I dont even use mosturizer anymore, just sunscreen during the day and the serum around the eyes at night. So what was making my skin so dry was too agressive cleansers. This one is just perfect. One more thing: I had tried other so called "gentle" cleansers, creamy stuff quite good, but they all left an oily feeling. I could not do without it. My skin type is combination rather than dry, yet any other cleanser would leave my skin uncomfortably dry and itchy after use - not this one!Product Rating
It's the only cleanser I ever used (and I tried many) that makes it really soft and smooth, while doing a really good job of removing impurities and light make-up. It does not foam, which I like personally.

Splash the face and eye area generously with tepid to slightly warm water. Spread a nickel- to quarter-sized amount of cleanser over your fingers and apply it with gentle but vigorous circular motions. Rinse well.
Please note: If heavy or "stay-put" makeup is being removed, you may need to wash twice or use a washcloth to ensure complete removal. (Paula's Choice Toners will also help remove any last traces of makeup.)
Cleanser Advice: Never use very hot or very cold water on your face. It "shocks" the skin and can cause broken capillaries and irritation.
Wet washcloths are a prime spot for bacteria to grow and can be rough on sensitive skin so it is best to just splash your face with water rather than using a washcloth. For some makeup wearers you may need to wash the face twice with the cleanser. However, if you're trying to remove stubborn makeup, especially matte finish or stay put types, it is essential to use a washcloth (a clean one every time) to be sure you're getting it all off.
After cleansing, dry gently by dabbing with a soft towel. You can then follow with Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Toner or the appropriate Paula's Choice blemish fighting or wrinkle fighting recommendations.

Do I still need to use an eye or face makeup remover?
It depends on how much eye or face makeup you are using or if you are wearing waterproof mascara, waterproof makeup, or other hard-to-remove makeup. Otherwise, this cleanser effectively removes most types of makeup.
How does Skin Recovery Cleanser differ from the other Paula's Choice Cleansers-how do I know which one is best for me?
Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Cleanser is slightly more emollient than our One Step Face Cleanser for Normal to Dry Skin, which makes it preferred for someone with dry to very dry skin.
I have normal to dry skin on my cheeks but my T-zone is oily - would Skin Recovery Cleanser work for me?
While it is an option, your best bet would be to try the One Step Face Cleansers for Normal to Dry or Normal to Oily/Combination skin first.
I have normal to dry skin that gets noticeably drier in the winter - would Skin Recovery Cleanser be a good seasonal choice?
Yes! This would be a very good choice for normal to dry skin during the winter months.
Will this cleanser make me break out?
This cleanser is extremely unlikely to cause blemishes. However, normal to oily and blemish-prone skins will find this cleanser too emollient for their skin type.
