How is Beautiful Body Butter different from Paula's Choice nighttime moisturizers?
Beautiful Body Butter is our thickest, richest, most emollient product and has a very different texture from our nighttime facial moisturizers. It is meant to provide the utmost protection and smoothing for dry to very dry areas such as hands, feet, elbows, and knees. Although our Skin Recovery Moisturizer and Moisture Boost Hydrating Treatment Cream are also suitable options for areas of dry to very dry skin, Beautiful Body Butter was formulated to address the most troublesome aspects of these skin types, such as roughness, splitting, and cracking. In addition, although Beautiful Body Butter can be used on the face, its thick texture makes it preferred for use from the neck down. In contrast, our nighttime moisturizers were designed specifically for the face, but can also be used on the body.

What is the difference between Beautiful Body Butter and the Lip & Body Treatment Balm?
The primary difference is texture. The Beautiful Body Butter's soft, creamy texture is like whipped butter. The Lip & Body Treatment Balm is extremely thick with a rich, lubricating feel. In addition, the Beautiful Body Butter is water-based whereas the Lip & Body Treatment Balm is plant oil-based and waterless, giving it a more viscous, less absorbent quality. Both products are excellent for addressing the needs of dry to extremely dehydrated skin such as dry, cracked heels, ragged cuticles, rough elbows or knees,. Because Beautiful Body Butter has a lighter finish and is more easily absorbed, it is recommended for larger areas of dry skin or as a spot treatment. The Lip & Body Treatment Balm is best as a spot treatment or for chapped lips.


Slip Into Silk Body Lotion

How does Slip Into Silk Body Lotion differ from the Paula's Choice nighttime moisturizers?
We combined the skin-beneficial elements of all our nighttime moisturizers to create a multi-purpose, all-over body lotion that gives all skin types what they need to look healthy and radiant and feel soft and remarkably smooth. Each Paula's Choice nighttime moisturizer has its own distinctive texture. There are multiple options so customers can choose the moisturizer that best suits their personal texture preference, fits their facial skin type/condition, and works well with their makeup.

I have very dry skin in some areas. Is Slip Into Silk Body Lotion emollient enough for me?
Probably not. For very dry or cracked skin (such as elbows, knees, and heels), we recommend using Beautiful Body Butter, which is considerably more emollient than Slip Into Silk Body Lotion. Slip Into Silk Body Lotion works well as an all-over moisturizer for smoothing and protecting dry skin, while Beautiful Body Butter is our thickest, richest, most emollient product and is meant to provide the utmost protection and smoothing for dry to very dry areas such as hands, feet, elbows, and knees.

Is it OK to use Retin-A or Renova with Slip Into Silk Body Lotion?
Yes, this should be fine. However, we always recommend checking with your physician before use with any prescription medications.

BHA products

Can I use BHA products on areas other than my face?
Paula's Choice BHA products can be used anywhere on the body, or, if preferred, you may choose our AHA and BHA body lotions for use on the face and body. All of our BHA products work very well to exfoliate dry elbows, knees, feet, and arms.

All-Over Hair & Body Shampoo

Can I use All Over Hair & Body Shampoo to wash my infant and/or child?
Yes, although as a general rule we always recommend asking your pediatrician before using any new product on an infant or child's skin. Paula's Choice All Over Hair & Body Shampoo is very gentle, and the fact that it is fragrance-free makes it a safer bet than most baby shampoos.

Can I use All Over Hair & Body Shampoo to wash my dog?
Yes, that is perfectly fine. Always be sure to rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove all traces of shampoo from your dog's coat.

Smooth Finish Conditioner Can I use Smooth Finish Conditioner to shave my legs?
Yes, although we recommend using our Close Comfort Shave Gel for best results. Smooth Finish Conditioner is an option, but does not rinse as well as Close Comfort Shave Gel.
