This is maybe the only Paulas Choice product i have not been 100% exited about. very expencive since I find myself using alot to get the razor to slide enough, and now I use just the All Over Body and Hair Shampoo's foam and works just as good and actually slides better! maybe more price-worth if used for only shaving for men, my boyfriend really likes it, but for legs i just end up using too much to be affordable.Product Rating

Apply a nickel- to quarter-sized amount (more if desired) to damp skin and shave as usual, rinsing the blade between strokes. This gel formula does not foam or lather. Rinse or splash shave gel from skin after shaving. Follow with Paula's Choice Skin Relief Treatment, a Paula's Choice sunscreen with SPF 15 or greater for daytime or moisturizer for nighttime.
Close Comfort Shave Gel Advice: It is best to apply any shaving gel (or cream/foam) to dampened skin. This allows for even distribution of the product. It is always best to shave with the growth of hair rather than against it. However, for stubborn areas (particularly the chin and neck area for men) shaving against the grain may be necessary. Close Comfort Shave Gel is designed to withstand multiple passes with the razor blade. Close Comfort Shave Gel works best with dual or triple-blade razors. We recommend using Gillette's Mach 3 or Venus or Mach 3 Turbo. Close Comfort Shave Gel can be used to shave unwanted hair from anywhere on the body. It will not sting or burn delicate skin areas. For particularly coarse or thick growth, it is best to soften the hairs with warm water (or take a bath/shower prior to shaving). This softens the hairs so they're easier for the blade to cut. Do not soak too long or use hot water which causes the skin to swell because the hair root is concealed by the swollen skin so you'll find it necessary to shave again shortly thereafter. It helps (especially for men) to shave in a pattern. Moving from left to right (or whichever method you're most comfortable with), shave in a methodical fashion to be certain you don't miss areas, such as under the chin, around the sideburns, and the jaw line. A man's whiskers are typically the thickest above the lips (moustache area) and on the chin. Ideally, these areas should be shaved last to allow Close Comfort Shave Gel plenty of time to soften the skin for quick, comfortable hair removal. For men with a prominent Adam's apple, do NOT shave directly over it! Instead, gently pull the skin to one side, shave, and then repeat this process for the other side. Men can also use Close Comfort Shave Gel to shave their scalp, if desired.

Does Close Comfort Shave Gel foam?
No. The formula doesn't contain propellants to create a foamy texture. Instead, Close Comfort Shave Gel has a concentrated formula with a thick, easy-to-spread gel texture.
How much do I need to use?
If you're a man about to shave his face, a nickel-sized amount should be sufficient to cover the beard area with a thin layer or gel. If you're a woman about to shave her legs, we recommend at least a quarter-sized amount per leg. Add more Close Comfort Shave Gel as needed or based on personal preference.
